    The Pleasure of Performance

As we practice the notes repeatedly,  gradually and instinctively, we feel the music in our fingers - just as we hear it in our heads. It is a process that we mostly conduct for ourselves in a quest to master the instrument as best we can. We seek to find a place where the composer intended us to arrive.  And this place can be shared with others as they too journey on the highway of musical achievement. And in music, there is room for the individual as well as the group.  Practice brings growth, and pleasure from the resulting accomplishment.  Yet, there is an even greater pleasure in having the success validated by the applause of an audience.
